Still Life Unleashed

You have probably been taught that still life is about getting it right. The proportions, the perspective, the way the light falls.

This class throws all of that out.

Still Life Unleashed is built around one idea: a painting comes alive not because it looks correct, but because someone made real choices and trusted them. Across seven complete modules, you will learn to think like a designer instead of a camera. And that one shift changes how you paint everything.

What you will paint:

Each module is a full painting experience on its own. Together, they build something that sticks.

• Module 0: Designing Still Life. The unlearning module. You will explore how artists mix perspectives, break spatial rules, and build compositions that feel alive before you ever pick up a brush.
• Module 1: Wonky Still Life. Objects tilt. Things float. Nothing has to make sense. This module gives you permission before it gives you polish.
• Module 2: Patterned Still Life. Pattern as a real design tool, not decoration. Think Matisse, not wallpaper.
• Module 3: Top-Down & Flat. Mixed perspective as a deliberate choice. You pick the viewpoint that makes the strongest shape.
• Module 4: Creative Still Life. Start with a reference photo. End with something that looks nothing like it but feels completely alive.
• Module 5: Limited Shapes. Three shapes. More freedom than you expect.
• Module 6: Modern Still Life. Bold flat shapes, clear color, no shading, no fussing. Design does all the storytelling.
